SALTERS TWO FROM TWO
5 Nov 2006

Dean Brindle’s Sprint car feature win at Western Springs last night is his second in as many races. The wins both came on the opening night of the season at two different tracks, the first at Baypark in Tauranga and then last night at the famous Auckland track.

Team owner Ron Salter’s choice of driver to partner current New Zealand Champion Kerry Jones seems to have been vindicated. Jones has been working to get all the cars up to speed and hopefully the fuel pump drive problems the team encountered with the NZ1 car on Saturday at the Springs will have been solved by next week.

“This is Dean’s and the team’s second feature win this season and it goes to prove that we picked the right person for the job, said a happy Salter last night, he is a young guy with a bright future”.

The team’s “stand in” driver Kevin “the Stig” Hinchcliffe put the number 7 car on the podium finishing third behind a hard charging Allan Wakeling. This is the car that US World of Outlaws star, Craig Dollansky will drive when he arrives in to race at Western Springs on the 2nd December.

Salter is also driving, he's back in the seat  of  the 63 car again this season. With 4 cars racing speedway fans at Western Springs may see the red Team Salter cars on the podium more often than usual.

“The car and engine combination we are running is so smooth said Salter. The Maxims give us the complete package and when the Outlaws get to run here the set-up knowledge will really finish the job for us.”

Both Dollansky and Joey Saldana will drive for team Salter at the Springs on the 9th December in the $20,000 Western Springs Sprint car Classic. Then the team will head south for the Powerbuilt Sprint car Classic and US World Challenge qualifier at Powerbuilt Speedway in Christchurch.
