Two dates for the International Sprint Car Series have been confirmed for early December this year.
The $20,000.00 Western Springs Sprint Car Classic will kick off the series at Western Springs on December 9th. The 30 lap feature race will be one of the season’s highlights at the Springs and will be a demanding precursor for many of the country’s top drivers before the New Zealand Championship later in the season at Western Springs on Feburary 17th 2007.
“There is a lot of demand from drivers in the USA and Australia to come over for this race meeting and we are confirming the overseas entry list in the next two weeks said series organiser Dave Stewart, Craig Dollansky is already confirmed and we will select at least one more top US driver in addition to the Australians.”
The International Sprint Car racing early in the season at Western Springs will allow the local drivers to put 100% effort into the NZ title later in the summer.
The series will then move to Powerbuilt Speedway at Ruapuna Park in Christchurch for the following Saturday the 16th December. The Powerbuilt tool sponsored Sprint Car Classic was held in front of a packed house at the inaugural running of the South Island event last year.
The 2006 race was a true international show with a driver from each county sharing the podium at the end of the feature race.
Some of the Internationals will stay on to compete at Western Springs at the traditional Boxing night race meeting later in December.
The Kiwis will not want the valuable prize pool to leave local shores and the racing is guaranteed to be fierce. Prize money Schedule Western Springs Classic Powerbuilt Classic
