World of Outlaws ace Craig Dollansky has confirmed today that he will spend the month of December racing for Springs Promotions here in New Zealand.
The 40 year old Minnesota native will drive the Ron Salter owned No.1 USA car in 4 December meetings including the lucrative $20,000.00 Western Springs Sprint car Classic on December 9th . His last outing at the Springs in 2006 was a forgettable one where the committed Dollansky drove in what proved to be an excruciating pain filled night at Auckland’s famous track.
“I had injured my back in a racing accident in the states before coming to Western Springs and didn’t have time to get it looked at before leaving America said a rueful Dollansky, I was in so much pain after the long flight and couldn’t understand what the problem was. I had a scan as soon as I got back home and the doctors found I had a broken lower back and couldn’t believe I had been on the trip let alone that I went racing”
Dollansky will be looking to set the record straight when he returns to the Springs in a little over two months time.
Craig, nicknamed “the Crowd Pleaser” for his aggressive driving style, will head down south to Powerbuilt Speedway in Christchurch to defend his title in the $20,000.00 Powerbuilt Classic in Christchurch on the 16th December.
“The Powerbuilt Classic was a great meeting last year and I’m looking forward to driving in Christchurch again, it is a great little race track” said Dollansky who won the inaugural race last year after a sensational battle with eventual second place finisher; Auckland driver Jamie MacDonald.
Boxing night racing will have some extra Sprint Car spice with Dollansky driving in this popular, traditional race night at Western Springs.
