With just over three weeks to go before the start of the historic 80th season at Western Springs Speedway, Springs Promotions are pleased to announce Hobeca as the sponsor for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. Hobeca have a long association with Western Springs and New Zealand Speedway with their Koken brand. They are one of the longest standing sponsors for any car on the track with their 15th season supporting eight –time New Zealand Sprintcar Champion Alan Wakeling. This season will be known as the ‘AmPro Tools 2009-2010 Season’ at the iconic Western Springs Speedway. AmPro Tools is a sister brand within the Hobeca range, supplying automotive specialty tools, air tools and hand tools to the trade industry. Springs Promotions General Manager, Lewis Dawson, says that this is a major sponsorship for the Springs. “Hobeca has a long involvement in all forms of motorsport and for them to commit to Western Springs this season is a firm endorsement of the direction the Speedway is taking for the upcoming season. They are an active sponsor and are skilled in the many ways of leveraging the sponsorship to gain maximum impact”. Dawson’s association with Hobeca goes back many years when he assisted them in many Motorsport sponsorships, more recently at Woodford Glen Speedway in Christchurch where AmPro Tools is also the major sponsor. “Our sponsorship at Woodford Glen was one of the key drivers for establishing the AmPro brand in the South Island”, says Remco Numan, General Manager for Hobeca. “When Lewis approached us to become season sponsors for Western Springs, it was an easy decision to make. We are excited about the prospects this sponsorship will give to the AmPro brand nationwide. In today’s economic climate, companies must not lose focus of the need to have both brand awareness and sales. Being well established globally as a brand of quality and value, we see AmPro as a perfect fit for all people involved at Western Springs Speedway – drivers, crew and spectators alike”, explained Numan. With the announcement of AmPro’s involvement, Lewis Dawson and Springs Promotions are especially upbeat about the prospect of a great season, both on and off the track. “Western Springs Speedway has just secured 20 weeks of programming on Sky Sport 1 on Tuesday nights at 7.00pm for the ‘Western Springs - The Dirt’ TV show, which will highlight the season’s racing and action on the competitive Western Springs quarter mile. This bodes especially well for both the sponsors of the drivers, as well as the Springs’, added Dawson. The new summer season of action at The Springs starts on November 7.
