USA SENDS TROOPS TO WESTERN SPRINGS
19 Jan 2007

A US team straight off the plane from the states took out the first International test race at Western Springs last night. The Americans proved that travelling long distances to race is something that they do well.

Cory Kruseman had only arrived from the first thing yesterday morning after flight delays and bad weather had held up the whole team at the Chilibowl race in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Shane Alach started of grid 2 and was dominant immediately, he was never headed and won the race ahead of three hard charging Americans. Kruseman and Danny Stratton in the red Lein Acres were followed over the line by Dave Darland who set the quickest lap time of the race.

Graham Standring was fourth  and Michael Pickens drove from 10th position on the start grid into a creditable 6th for the NZ team.

Kiwi team members Bryce Townsend and Brad Mosen were unable to finish the race. Mosen with drive line problems and Townsend had an ignition wire break. US driver Brad Kuhn also DNF’d with damage to his front end.

Saturday night at Western Springs will see the two countries back on track for two more test races before heading to Christchurch for two nights of International racing.
